RDC-VI to hold 4Q conference, fellowship

ILOILO CITY - The Regional Development Council Region VI will conduct its last meeting for the year on December 8 at the Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

This will also be the first meeting of the RDC-VI after the official return of the Province of Negros Occidental to Region VI. The meeting will be presided by Chairperson Rhodora J. Cadiao, governor of Antique. Members from government agencies, local government units and the private sector are expected to personally attend the meeting.

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar has been invited as the guest Resource Person who will present the major infrastructure projects for Region VI from CY 2017-2022 and update the body on the Build, Build, Build program under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Special features of the conference will include the oath-taking ceremony of private sector representatives from Negros Occidental as well as the awarding of plaques of recognition to members who retired from government service this year for their valuable contributions, namely: Office of Civil Defense VI Regional Director Rosario T. Cabrera, Philippine Information Agency VI Regional Director Atty. Ma. Janet C. Mesa, and Department of Energy Visayas Field Office Director Antonio E. Labios.

Committee reports, including resolutions will be delivered by the following chairpersons: DILG Regional Director Anthony B. Nuyda for the Development Administration Committee and the report on the First Joint RDC-RPOC-VI meeting; Ms. Ma. Luisa C. Segovia of the Iloilo Business Club for the Infrastructure Development Committee and the Regional Investment and Competitiveness Coordination Committee; DOST Regional Director Rowen R. Gelonga for the Economic Development Committee and the Research and Development Committee; DSWD Regional Director Rebecca P. Geamala for the Social Development Committee; Ms. Febie S. Ibojos of Signpost Philippines for the Regional Gender and Development Committee; and NEDA Regional Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal for the Regional Project Monitoring Committee and the Regional Land Use Committee.

As a traditional practice of the RDC-VI members, a Christmas Fellowship will follow after the December meeting to spark the Yuletide season in the region and foster camaraderie. The members will exchange gifts of products made in Western Visayas. (DRD/NEDA-VI/PIA6)
